They have become substantially more strict cracking down and demonizing users for using copyrighted work and AI but they still have “fair use” which allows users to take things and turn it into educational/informative content. The problem with AI taking copyrighted material is that its marketing users to use it in a way that completely does copy others work in a simple video, book, or picture medium. A good example of this is all those Star Wars veo 3 videos with the storm troopers doing a vlog. Although they are fun to watch someone is potentially getting paid by YouTube from monetization for posting that video although that person doesn’t even own the characters/property. Also they shouldn’t have a right to post that because that is a manipulation of someone’s brand. It is obviously Star Wars. No parody. Flat out it’s Star Wars that is niched for comedic effect and that shouldn’t be allowed. Any business owner would agree. There is no point in selling a product if anybody could steal your product and start selling it themselves. That brand needs to belong to the creative team/business. It’s how marketing is successful and how capitalism works and makes our society flow. Copyright is the only thing that keeps business on the same level of fairness.
