OK, but humans feel pain and pleasure and need air, water, food, and sleep. We have a limited time on this earth and the need to maintain social connections with the hope of mating to carry on the species before our inevitable demise. A computer has none of these needs. It could reproduce itself in ten seconds by linking to another computer. It could sit in cold storage for 100 years and continue on undaunted. Our limitations are what make us human...and so an A.I. could only achieve personhood if it had similar limitations. Arming AI with an autonomous physical presence would be a huge mistake, as Darwinism would not care if the AI can feel anything or not.
