You might argue that what they do isn't "art", but for many, it is a hobby in which they care to improve themselves, seeking to inspire others blah, blah, blah… Secondly, the position into which non-AI artists are pushed by AI is not by malice but rather by a lack of consideration for said artist – which does suck nontheless, but does further serve to prove the pursuit of AI generated art as an artistic interest. Now, it's a skit, and I am sure that if you search twitter long enough, you actually find an idiot bragging with a crappy product to an actual artist… but it's a skit and we need to adress that douchebags are not representative of any group (if we care to advance any argument.) I'll avoid digging into individual lines "fellow artist", like who says that? The purpuse of AI art is not to say "Look, I am an artist, just like you." but to say "Look at the cool thing I did." - meaning to pursue art. This whole thing reminds me of the HEMA community (Historical Europian Martial Arts) arguing that usage of guns requires no skill, that it makes things too easy. NO, it requires different skills. Maybe few of the skills overlap. We should not look at the minimum-effort-results to prove that a massive amount of skill isn't being input by whoever has talent in said area of endeavor. "I can't wait for AI to destroy your career." again, somwhere on twitter, you will find this, but I would make a safe bet that this is the endgame for that conversation/fight, not how it started. The video is presented as a schism between reasonable people and unreasonable people. Do you honestly believe that's how things are? The whole thing with democratizing art for lazy people. Screw that can of worms, even if you are not lazy, you can benefit from speeding up your work, filling out background, you have a limited lifespan and sometimes you need to maintain consistency on a large project. Finally, horny people use AI art for "personal need", of course they are thin skinned about what they produce and generally not the top of class. I would not take that subset of AI artists as representative.
