@retrocomputing Well actually I was offering a metaphor so people could understand why artists feel so violated by the way AI utilizes their work. But if it helps to continue the scenario; you can tell said parent that only their daughter's facial parameters were used and that the eyes and mouth and nose could be anybody's, but if they clearly recognize their daughter's face then they will still be offended. AI hasn't reached the point where it can actually create something original, but it's being marketed as though it has. It doesn't understand what hands and feet and eyes actually are, just what images usually are tagged as such. And so in order to make generated art that "looks good", it has to take too much from the source material, and we're back to just copying someone's art and selling it.
