@ I’m not proposing that you take it back to the nth degree, just to the source material that the AI was fed. If it’s copyrighted material and the copyright is still in effect, then that’s who gets the the credit and royalties. If it’s in the public domain, then it’s has the same right of use as a live person, but no royalty due or collectible. It could be limited to the top handful of influences. Face it, there’s a whole lot of AI generated stuff that’s been lot more than just “influenced”, it’s been outright plagiarized, and those would be the easy call for the AI to admit to - there’s no 5th amendment right to self incrimination afforded to AI that I’m aware of.
