I want to partially agree with you, but I think we also have to consider the broader impact because ai generation isn't some free, harmless magic. It requires massive computational resources, which consume a significant amount of electricity and contribute to environmental strain. So even if someone isn’t profiting or directly harming an artist, there's still a hidden cost that scales up the more casually people use these tools.
The bottom line is: even personal use of AI art isn't without consequence. If you're able, paying an artist, even for something small, puts money back into the creative community and has a more positive social and ecological impact. Convenience shouldn't be the only factor we weigh.
