everyone are trying to pasify themselves by saying AI will not completely replace humans in this programming fields. thats very correct... but the no of programmers needed in the future will drastically reduce and thats where the real economic problem is. im a student from india who is gonna study a non programming degree but i can say that the no of people studying cs is huge considering all the tiers of colleges. and moreover people (a huge percent of them not everyone) who r not directly studying a cs or related degree learn these stuffs on their own to some extent and land a job in the IT industry... and most of them are mid level developers and they r highly vulnerable to AI. with med - high skilled people who r still on board r not just gonna survive but thrive, no doubt abt that.
