You don't need all jobs gone, 25% of permanent and unxifable unemployment is enough to unleash a societal collapse. Since most of us work for a living and saddled with all kinds of debt, if 1 in 4 have no jobs, that'll be devastating for almost all communities. Humans and AI might work together in high-end jobs, but entry-level ones that don't require years of training will be eliminated in the first round, and that's pretty much the majority of workforce, and not only 25% but probably well over 50%, as few have truly usable higher education that absolutely can't be done by machines at entry level. It is already happening and we ain't seen nothing yet. Plus, this pesky exponential growth thing pretty much tells us that we have zero idea how things will look like in 5 or 10 years. For a human, 5 years is about enough to pivot, retrain, start new studies from scratch, gain field training, and obtain valuable experience. For AI, well let's see where it was 5 years ago and where it is today. Pivoting and retraining also costs money and energy for us humans...
