Not such a wise ferrit. You mistake 'sentient' for 'sapient'. Sentient is 'senses' (sensors for robots). Sapience is the mind, which is what you want.
As for wise, future rights will be based on enlightenment. You would not give full rights to an unenlightened animal (or robot). Current humans are not enlightened yet. For enlightenment, read my philosophy (the Philosophy of Universal Survival and Morality, for the Space Age, no less) - it is a response to Continued Universal Human Cluelessness, which is humanity's #1 problem.
