this is a misconception. AI can train from ground 0. With no "stealing". It will take incredibly longer time, but it is still technically possible.
To put into perspective, imagine you an artist and i come up and tell you "draw me what i imagine in my head". That's it. I dont give you any information. And every time you draw something i can tell you "this doesnt look close" or "this looks closer". How long it will take you to draw what i imagine? Same goes with AI.
And AI doesnt steal. The guy himself in this video didnt prove that ai is stealing by explaining how it works. What pictures did AI stole to draw rotisery chicken on a rollercoaster?
If you call that stealing - then EVERY artist is stealing.
If you an artist and i ask you "draw me X-103 model Mk II".
You have NO idea what it is, how it looks like and what you should draw. What will you do? You will go and google images of that and look at them and draw them. You do not ask permission from owners of these images. But when AI does the same - somehow it's a problem
