Exactly, they are hacks; very interesting video, I have been close to this subject for many decades, but focused on vision systems, effectively replicating human vision. This was a really nice summary of the LLM application which is not my expertise, although the techniques overlap. My own view is that, because everything in machine learning can be reduced to stochastic calculus, there is a fundamental barrier to 'intelligence' because the calculus can only work as an estimator on fully observable processes that are causal. Human creativity is not constrained in that way.
