In some time, high school and junior high students will have this AI thing in their phones. Lensa app is already the most downloaded app in my country. It does AI portraits of selfies you upload. Soon tech like Midjourney will be in every phone. Probably with voice controlled interface. And I can see a situation where students will use it to mock the art teachers "Teacher can't even beat AI lol". And they will definitely use it as an excuse to not learn, and challenge the teacher on "Why should we learn this stuff". Compulsory art class already was seen as "useless but chill" by most students, it was only meaningful for those who are into drawing and dream of visually inclined careers. This technology is absolutely cursed. Worst human invention since nuclear bomb. It didn't solve any problem, only created a slew of new ones. With long term effects, even permanent. Will kids even want to learn to draw anymore? Even those who would have the talent and DNA for it. Will they feel it's not worth the effort, since they can see how much better AI is when they are like age 6. They see it and get discouraged, and never even pursue their natural talent? What will happen to things like human architecture, clothing design, product design, car design? Everything that surrounds us, we wear, inhabit, consume, sit on, drive, and hang on our walls, will be designed by some dead AI mind? Such dystopian vision of future. Soon it will lead into situation, where nobody wants to become an art teacher anymore either. Because of the humiliating teaching situation. Teacher being good at drawing doesn't give them any authority in the classroom anymore, like past centuries. Students don't respect them. I remember looking up to my art teacher, I thought she was the coolest. Because art was my favourite subject, and I had seen some of her drawings, much better than any student. Would have I felt that way, if AI existed in the late 90s? Would have I even pursued a career in graphic design? Or spent those countless teenage evenings, working on a new piece? I doubt it. No teachers, no students, no new artists. All the forementioned visual industries will start to suffer, because there is no new student material. They will rely more and more on pure AI. I wish I had the power to stop this. Sometimes I think someone should do what the Luddites did, just smash the render farms or something. It makes me so angry sometimes. Those stupid, irresponsible Silicon Valley fools. I hope they feel guilt for rest of their lives at least. Needleslly destroying a beautiful part of humanity that existed for thousands of years, just to prove they are good at math.
