What makes you think we are a threat to an AI's theoretical sense of self preservation? Do you think that robots are advanced enough as of right now to do the work that keeps an electrical grid running like us from what our bodies are capable of? And can they do so efficiently enough not to deplete a more advanced A.I's power pool? Or are we the most efficient option?
Even in a 'worse case' scenario, I think a truly intelligent AI is going to see the use in keeping us around, we do a LOT of work without the need for a power supply. Which is great for a A.I's potential computational capacity and the resource it needs to achieve that; electricity.
