Exactly, the amount of people that think it's a research tool and not a language model is astounding. it's ONLY job is to make a sentence that looks "right", nothing about accuracy.
For personal use i wanted a recipe from ChatGPT, and ended up finding it so interesting i asked for a source. it straight up fabricated a source, fake website, book, page number, everything. when i asked for clarification after not being able to find it, the bot basically said "yea it's not real, sorry lol."
As someone who usually tries to go to the original source if one is cited, the more fake citations that get through these papers, wether personal or even academic, this is gonna be a nightmare in the future sifting through all the junk that a word generator has tricked people into citing. Artificial "intelligence" is a farce sometimes. Really enjoyed your comment, hope you're well.
