I also think it's worth noting for people that think AI art is unfair, that it's not fair for art to be so easy... Nobody really batted an eye when 3D softwares got cell shading systems or digital retouching started being used to clean up 2D animations or algorithmic image filters were used to expedite the process of creating on model backgrounds. In all those cases it was a tool that helped artists work more quickly but still required the artist's knowledge and know-how. Right now these AI systems don't feel like tools and they feel very abusive, but it doesn't have to be that way. Machine learning and AI could be used to develop tools that make human guided art easier, more accessible, and create new possibilities. But I will reiterate, people need to be paid for that reference data.
