In this case the police misused the software. However, I don't see why facial recognition can't be used as a helpful tool as long as there's other evidence. Of course it shouldn't be solely depended on to make an arrest. I hope this gentleman sues the Detroit police for his terrible ordeal , including the trauma the police put his family through. However, it sounds as if they misused a program that might have been helpful had they been trained properly.
