@Gold3n Kid: Think again.
• _Revelation 13:15 (NIV)_
_The second beast was given power to_ *give breath to the image* _of the first beast,_ *so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.*
Giving breath to...the image? Break that down:
Biblically, "give breath to" means give life to...
• _Genesis 2:7 (NIV)_
7 _Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and_ *breathed into his nostrils the breath of life,* *and the man became a living being.*
Footnotes:
a. Genesis 2:7 The Hebrew for _man (adam)_ sounds like and may be related to the Hebrew for _ground (adamah);_ it is also the name _Adam_ (see verse 20).
• _Job 33:4 (NIV)_
4 _The Spirit of God has made me;_
*the breath of the Almighty gives me life.*
Secondly, an image refers to idols (even statues) that people would draw, mold out of clay, carve out of wood, or forge out of metal, to represent deity. They would worship / bow down to these inanimate figures as gods. And those images back then didn't even move. Imagine if the image were AI, thus had the appearance of life: could move, speak, order people to be killed...?
In contrast:
• _Leviticus 26:1 (NIV)_
26 *“‘Do not* _make idols or_ *set up an image* _or a sacred stone for yourselves,_ _and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it._ _I am the Lord your God._
• _Leviticus 19:4 (NIV)_
4 *“‘Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves.* _I am the Lord your God._
• _Psalm 115:2-8 (NIV)_
2 _Why do the nations say,_
_“Where is their God?”_
3 _Our God is in heaven;_
_he does whatever pleases him._
4 *But their idols* _are silver and gold,_
_made by human hands._
5 _They have mouths,_ _but cannot speak,_
_eyes,_ _but cannot see._
6 _They have ears,_ _but cannot hear,_
_noses,_ _but cannot smell._
7 _They have hands,_ _but cannot feel,_
_feet,_ _but cannot walk,_
_nor can they utter a sound with their throats._
8 _Those who make them will be like them,_
_and so will all who trust in them._
Implication: dead, immobile, not living.
However: as Revelation 13 revealed, an image will be given breath (not the breath _of life_ that only God can give, but the appearance of being alive). What if that image is like the metal gods that YHWH forbade us from making and worshiping (in Leviticus 19:4)? Give the idol breath/the appearance of having life (AI), then the image/statue/idol can move and think on its own, even speak, cause all who did not worship it to be killed. Gels perfectly with Revelation 13 which describes giving an image—an inanimate representation of a living thing—its own life. So we have either a hologram or a robot, or something like it (something more advanced that we have yet to see?).
AI would be stronger, more powerful, and smarter than humans; of course people would want to worship (submit to) it, especially if people could only buy and sell by taking on its mark. But we're not to do that because we only worship YHWH, and would rather die than bow down to an idol, would rather die than interact with creation in forbidden ways. And would rather die (experience earthly death) than the lake of fire, the second death.
Don't get me wrong, end times prophecy also includes natural disasters (e.g. famines, an abyss opening up in the earth and locusts coming out of it, planetary flood of fire, etc), but the actions and inventions of a man (i.e. the image invented by a man and the image given breath) also plays a part in killing us (but it only kills obedient believers in YHWH because the Most High is the only one who forbids idol / image worship; so, if you worship YHWH, then you refuse to worship any image, let alone the specific image given breath that is demanding worship/obedience/submission).
Again, with more context:
• _Revelation 13:15-18 (NIV)_
15 _The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast,_ _so that the image could speak and_ *cause all who refused to worship the image* _to be killed._ 16 _It also forced all people,_ _great and small,_ _rich and poor,_ _free and slave,_ _to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,_ 17 _so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark,_ _which is the name of the beast or the number of its name._
18 _This calls for wisdom._ _Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast,_ _for it is the number of a man.[a]_ _That number is 666._
Footnotes:
a. Revelation 13:18 Or _is humanity’s number_
However, in case anyone is thinking it, taking on the mark of the beast is not something one should do; it's only temporary alleviation from earthly persecution. It does not save from YHWH's wrath nor from the lake of fire:
• _Revelation 16:2 (NIV)_
2 _The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land,_ *and ugly,* *festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.*
• _Revelation 19:20 (NIV)_
20 _But the beast was captured,_ _and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf._ _With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image._ _The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur._
• _Revelation 20:10 (NIV)_
10 _And the devil,_ _who deceived them,_ _was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,_ _where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown._ _They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever._
• _Revelation 13:8 (NIV)_
8 *All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life,* _the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.[a]_
Footnotes:
Revelation 13:8 Or _written from the creation of the world in the book of life belonging to the Lamb who was slain_
• _Revelation 20:15 (NIV)_
15 *Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.*
• _Revelation 20:14 (NIV)_
14 _Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire._ *The lake of fire is the second death.*
Ergo, just like the devil, the beast, and the false prophet, and their fate, whoever takes on the mark of the beast will suffer earthly plagues from God and be tormented day and night, forever and ever in the lake of fire / Gehenna. The mark of the beast is not a solution no matter how they try to pitch it, advertise its benefits and conveniences.
Not to digress, however, and in a nutshell: an image given breath is also prophesied to cause people (specifically believers) to be killed in the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse). Could very much be an AI robot or something like it—which no mere human, nor human technology, can destroy.
• _Daniel 8:25 (NIV)_
25 _He will cause deceit to prosper,_ _and he will consider himself superior._ _When they feel secure,_ *he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes.* *Yet he will be destroyed,* *but not by human power.*
• _2 Thessalonians 2:8 (NIV)_
8 _And then the lawless one will be revealed,_ _whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming._
Everyone, beware of "images (idols/statues) given breath" demanding worship.
Shabbat Shalom ♡
