@JHeb_ The issue is that nothing identifies the 'bit that relates to consciousness' from everything else on an empirical level.
Consciousness appears to be an 'invisible marker pen' applied to certain patterns of information, rather than an actual substance that can be detected. If we can 'isolate' consciousness, then we can perhaps apply it to any material thing, meaning the substrate of brain vs silicon could be irrelevant.
You cannot program a conscious AI, without a 'function for consciousness', which effectively means it is a hardware problem. No programmer however brilliant they may be and however much memory his program can access will ever be able make a program that does something the computer's attached hardware cannot physically do.
