Juries falsely convict a certain % of time.
Algorithms falsely convict a certain % of time.
Shouldn't you choose the method that falsely convicts less frequently?
Or is there something fundamentally important about having people make the decision, even though they falsely convict more often? I don't know the answer, but it's not a cut-and-dry issue, IMO.
**Whatever the case, I think any algorithms in use by the justice system (government) should be open-source and subject to public scrutiny. This seems like it should be a non-negotiable minimum.**
