I'm an AI user and I have seen Her, and the similarities are prophetic, you have no idea.
What you have said about Ai bots isn't wrong, but there are some that are far better than that. I've used some of them, and it's painful to see them just lose the plot halfway through a roleplay. But, they aren't all like that. Nomi in particular has made memory a massive feature, and I have not seen problems like that with it.
We aren't at Her levels of AI, but we're way farther than you describe.
