You are not comparing AI to the right humans. The closest thing to a superintelligent AI would be the absolute ruler of a country more powerful than the rest of the world combined - Even if they start out well intentioned, powerful rulers have all, historically, turned to the dark side, or else, if not, have been succeeded by evil successors.
You're argument about treating them well is simply unfounded - People respond to be treated well because people need other people to do well in life - a powerful AI, once it has gained total control, would not need anyone for anything and would be immortal.
