@csreiter No it is 100% similar to making espresso. An espresso machine has several settings (such as temperature, pressure, and when certain processes occur - as well as grind of the beans, the specifics of the beans, how much water, and so on). And AI programs have TONS of settings beyond simple text prompts. Most AI art that is getting people mad, is just bad art because the artist isn't controlling for many of the variables. It's the equivalent of leaving all the settings on the espresso machine at default, putting normal chock full o nuts coffee grounds in and running it - awful cup of coffee, but *you would still have made that cup of coffee.* And no it will NOT affect art as a profession very much in a bad way. The fact more people will interact with art at all as a result means more people will likely develop taste as a result. More people with art taste = more potential clients. It also can allow individual artists to make larger projects on shoestring budgets, generating assets and backgrounds and so on. Similar to how CSP can turn photos and 3d models into b/w with screentones, how pros trace a lot of the time, and how people sometimes use blender for props in comics/images and things that aren't being directly focused on or where the 2d animation would be difficult. It can also be used to rapidly brainstorm ideas with only moderate skill, allowing artists to quickly curate from the outputs concepts and pitches for their bosses that can then be developed using their skills into full concept art. You said a lot of nothing in the last bit. The way to pay the bills might be improved, it won't be destroyed. AI is not a replacement for when the art has a lot of specifications, and as I've seen it really cannot be. "Expressive" and "impact" are piss easy. The former only relies on the artist explaining their intention, the latter relies on knowing your audience. And audiences are not going to just up and vanish.
