I don't understand this. How is Demis talking about AlphaFold, a new technology that can help us save countless lives, gaining him substantial power over the "uninformed, stressed and scared public"? And in what way is AI giving substantial power to Demis otherwise? The barrier to entry for knowledge is getting lower and lower if you're referring to something like Gemini, but other than that I really don't know.
I can see maybe you wanting them to lean more open-source, but even then AlphaFold is open source? If it's just the fact that Google owns, like, all the the TPUs then I could maybe see a point there. If a future breakthrough needs that kind of compute, they're one of the only ones with it.
I don't think many people are disregarding Kate's points either. The first concern from people when AI is brought up are either jobs or SkyNet and she's kinda opting for no SkyNet, especially on people who already have it rough.
