@thewannabecritic7490 Copyright infringement only counts when you take specific, copyrighted/trademarked characters - like Mickey Mouse. I could draw in the style of the late Vaughn Bode and his son Mark Bode - I'd only run into legal trouble making my own "Cheech Wizard" comics. To argue this the movie "Wizards" by Ralph Bakshi and with a very similar art style by Ploogh. Art "Styles" are NOT copyright/trademark protectable which is good, Disney would own them ALL and everyone would be under a Mike Diana ruling where even if they drew for their own personal enjoyment they could get in legal trouble. Even today most artists / illustrators train their NON-Ai real neural networks with EVERYTHING. NOT just "Public Domain" images. Too bad since most of them are 💩even the "Good" ones just have niches (like half-nekkid elf chicks) they did too much work at the cost of general professionalism, the latter they don't have either. The stuff I use for my painted backgrounds via AI is calling on the older ones long dead and legit public domain - the new ones pretty much can NOT do backgrounds. JoonyArt would beat them for backgrounds, even if they used a digital brush and they used the $20 WalMart physical art kit equivalent. This is just that they thought they were untouchable by automation. Before lockdown I saw plenty of "Pros" like business, programmers and artists from the local college go around doing "Fashionably Radical" stuff like going up to laid off labor related workers "Oh, got laid off for a machine? Lllurrrnnn tu Kode!" - with phones rolling camera in case they got hit so they'd sue for their severance package and house... Serious - what if it was a few years ago and some worker say at a warehouse complained he was laid off for a robot like ones they are making. "And I had to train my robot replacement, wear these dumb dots all over so it could copy my motions, just for a few weeks of pay and severance..." - I know - based on my own EYES and EARS you'd have all gone "Aahahah! What a LOSER! LLluurrrn tu KODE!" right in his FACE. AND a few years from now all these big companies will go "Hey! You can work for us for a few months..." and there's a big contract with fine print, and the job isn't so much drawing comic books as scanning in all your art and drawing the same characters from a lot of different angles so they can be labeled and scanned in for an Ai... And the big company will go "Yes, you are signing away the rights to use your work in our AI production and SELL for OUR benefit the data. Go ahead. Refuse a paycheck and get blacklisted. There are a MILLION other illustrators in the world as good as you and many live in 3rd world countries and will beg to sell it for LESS." and most of you will just whimper and sign it away - you were trained to be SHEEP. You only have guts when (like here) you bite black lambs in the herd, but ONLY if the Shepheard (fear of the law) prevents that sheep from kicking or turning around and biting back. You'll NEVER go against the big companies that have ripped everyone off for a LONG time - not 'Fashionably Radical". Going to be REAL fun when people are having these discussions on the hidden web so no Teacher (whoops moderator) to cry to "Baaannn" the person who bullied back and not easy to pinpoint anyone for the LAW to come for them for a legit threat... A few years back there was "one angry gamer" which went WWW 1.0 wild west a few years and the bully woke sheep got their a handed to them by just being insulted back and boy did they cry.
