But you still require using your brain to respond which is part of your programming. Artificial Neural networks function similarly to our brains but they are still considered programs and are also self adapting. What counts as thinking outside of your programming? Computers are not bound to specific outputs in the field of machine learning they produce outputs which are not directly programmed but trained. Machine learning moves only moves the programming back by one level, but that could be the case for us as well. Since a worms brain has been simulated it seems to be the case for worms.
