Basic Income is the best solution we have available right now: all citizens would receive a basic level of income (enough to live simply) via the government. Essentially universal welfare, guaranteed to all citizens, regardless of additional income. It would not be taxed, but any income on top of it would be (income earned from jobs, for example). People could choose to work in order to improve their lot, but they would not be forced into compromising positions to do so, with basic income on hand to protect against economic ruin. It's going to be effectively necessary if we really do begin automating most of our current labor market, unless we can find new markets for current labor to work within.
