What AI has over us is objectivity in these cases. We, well, most of us break over torture and confess to whatever will stop the pain, wherever our ideologies or loyalties lie.
A thirsty man, shipwrecked at sea can be reduced into drinking seawater, even though it makes the matters worse, but an android with a depleting power source could be just as "clear headed" about it as during full power.
Without installing these primary drives as motivations that overwrite other functions, even logic, they'll never truly be *like* us. They may be better, really, but I'm not one to assume.
It'd be too great a difference for me, personally to risk bring into the world.
