My thoughts: what A.I. is good at: makes more intricate pieces, can make art quicker from scratch What humans are good at: unique and heartfelt transitions of emotion and concept through infinitely tessellating and evolving mediums. People will always prefer the emotions and catharsis of what people can make rather than the objective quality. That’s why I like jackass! I agree that humans will never be taken over by A.I., but it’s rather silly to be worried that they will. The only people who genuinely believe that are some 5,000 strong neckbeards who still think teslas are environmentally friendly, and who have no idea what is truly futuristic. What will be futuristic is when the creators and utilisers of such technologies are able to find ways to allow them to integrate within the art world without them being entirely commercial. It sort of reminds me of when electronics were used to enhance music, and I think we should come to the same conclusion: they will be best used when they can be used as extensions of the artists, just as a painter uses a paintbrush and a guitarist uses a pick, as a way to create from the heart. A guitar can’t play a piece on its own, neither can a human on its own, but with a good enough guitar and an advanced enough guitarist, you get misirlou! Edit: btw, before y’all start creaming your pants in bloodlust assuming I’m meaning that A.I. artists can work together, I ain’t. I mean we should develop programs that allow artist to enhance their OWN art, or even form their own, as opposed to allowing the A.I.s to mess around and shart out their own digital spaghetti.
