I fear I don't hold out much hope in this. If we were able to change, then the U.S. Congress would not have approved Project 2025 and granted a very expensive tax cut to billionaires and major corporations that is being offset by huge cuts in all types of medical insurance. I graduated from nursing school in 2025. We were required, for our pediatrics component, to write a letter to a Senator asking for funds for children who have certain diseases. Not for the disease itself but for non-medical interventions that might help. I chose asthma in children in the Bronx, N.Y. Being as I am a lifelong asthmatic, I understood what a child goes through. After some research, I realized that increasing the strength in the musculature that is involved in breathing that it would help in the middle of an attack. The easiest way to do that was to teach kids to swim. Where in the Bronx could this happen? Why, at the YMCA, of course. Memberships could be funded by a combination of Fed and state funds; it really wouldn't cost that much. It would pay off in decreased need for expensive meds and inhalers. Unfortunately, I never heard anything back. The reason why I chose the Bronx is that it is an area of high air pollution and has been for decades. Between traffic, trucks and factories, it is not a place for asthmatic kids. We owe it to them to help decrease their breathing issues. Life in the Bronx is hard; there is a great deal of poverty and many people are trapped there and can't get out. However, even for a small amount of money, no one is interested, it seems. This is one of the reasons I don't hold out much hope. If you have no more salaries, benefits etc to worry about, then all the profit is yours. They don't care about the people of this country. They have made that obvious by outsourcing jobs. Why should what they did then be any different than using robots? The only time when they will wake up to things is when they realize there are no buyers for their products because no one has work thanks to AI.
