AI and automation are actually great - assuming you have a good dose of socialism to free up things people want to do when the things we don't are taken care of while keeping oligarchal CEOs in check. The way shitty jobs work is by asserting false scarcity to beat you over the head for having the audacity to be treated like a human compensated for their hard work, and are nothing but replaceable meat for the grinder - while simultaneously using it as a motivator to those who are willing to accept any shit wage "because there are thousands waiting in line" ready to eat that shit up and replace you. Pretty much applies to renting, too.
