AI images (especially as the generation currently is, or even will be any time soon) will not be used in a LOT of creative fields. - It cannot iterate based on extremely specific direction - it cannot be copyrighted - there are still many things it is NOT good at producing - it must have input to create output, and cannot creatively transform things with purpose the way humans using reference can. - It is not "intelligently" interpreting anything. It does not have feelings, it simply pulls from its library as directed or uses what makes most sense based on its data. - it cannot currently research reliably to pull from the CORRECT or FACTUAL sources, only the most "relevant" ones. It will still replace humans in certain branches of this field, which is still potentially a problem. Younger/beginning artists will be discouraged because the output quality might look "better" on the surface than what they can produce. But at the moment, I do hope even beginner artists take heart that AI cannot do what they can. It cannot make those tiny, granular changes to the composition or colors or pose or features or expression of a subject with the ease and creativity we can. It does not know what colors humans associate with emotions, it does not know when to use a hard or soft line. AI image generation has a place in the future of industry art as a jumping-off point. It is an "idea guy". It has the potential to replace or reduce the tedium of things like photobashing, or tweening in animation, or the thumbnailing/first pass for concepting. But it is not an artist, and cannot produce things that are fundamentally useful to most people or companies that have need of artists. Art directors do not want images that can't be copyrighted, that can't be edited, that don't reliably stay on-model, that don't have distinct, organized layers and high resolution needed to make these assets useful for any kind of production. There will always be people or companies that take the "cheap" route and use the results of AI image generation to fill the place they could have previously been forced to fill with an artist, but in most cases: these people are not people you would want to work for anyway, and certainly aren't ones who would compensate you fairly. In most cases, they would have avoided hiring or commissioning an artist at all in the first place.
