I'm generally skeptical of the value of AI. And I appreciate Ms. Hao's presentation here.
However, you lost me at 4:40; the point where she repeatedly said that these data centers are "trained" on fresh water.
I think she mispoke. I'm certain she meant COOLED on fresh water.
These data centers generate a LOT of heat and water cooling is one of the available strategies for cooling.
I'm curious though: Do these facilities actually consume this water? Or, is it like in an internal combustion engine cooling system where it's a closed loop? That is the system is sealed and goes in cool, leaves hot, cools and repeats. There's not hardly any consumption there. ...Unless they used cooling ponds, rather than radiators. If that were the case much WOULD be lost/consumed by evaporation. In which case regulations should force them to use a closed loop/radiator type system. Regardless of what Trumps EO illegally says on the matter.
