I have to take issue with your contention that by accepting an autocomplete suggestion, that the AI wrote the code. The AI may have *typed* all of the code, but as an engineer, you're responsible for every line you accept from the AI and you should have test coverage for every line. So I still don't see how the AI "wrote" anything, it only suggested something that got accepted as something the developer would have *typed* by hand (how is this different than searching github or stackoverflow for a question, then copying/pasting the code. Seems to me the AI autocomplete is just a quick shortcut to what we already do). Now if you're accepting AI suggestions left and right without vetting the code, the problem isn't the AI suggestions, it's you the engineer not doing your job.
