there are a lot of valid uses for generative ai; publishing a billion shitty images from midjourney isn't one of them, and never will be. the one thing that gives me comfort about this is that, as more and more ai is published online, more and more of the training data of the ai will be from ai, making the ai get worse.
one of the things that pisses me off the most about these tech bros is that they will be genuinely convinced that they have any fucking skill. like, I've seen "prompt engineering" as something these people will list on linkedin. like, fuck off. it takes actual skill to make the models, sure, but it takes exactly zero skill to use them.
