As someone who uses AI art a lot, abso-fucking-lutely. AI art sucks for consistency and singular vision. AI art has this very hilarious problem that makes it useless almost exclusively for those who want to use it. I was making a game, not a commercial product. It's text based but the idea of adding some art really jived with me. Can't pay an artist and the project doesn't matter. Starts easy, add art. Project balloon, i get more serious about it. Maybe this will be a project i will be proud of? Put more scrutiny into the art, the art consistently fail my very low standards and have to be thrown out. I bet you have all seen games that use AI art, the problem with those games is that the game is built around the art, not the other way around. As someone with a creative vision, it's useless unless i spend just as much time on the art piece as a real artist would... Start seeing a problem? I went for a friend, who is much worse at art than the AI art in terms of quality, but the consistency and clarity to my vision is flawless. I don't miss the high fidelity of AI art at all. And my friend gets to practice and have an entire game fully in their budding and evolving style... Probably what it should've been from the start.
