I was a software engineer and I already made the switch to AI/ML/Data Science role with a startup. We are helping companies develop and implement their AI strategies. I was 2nd hire so I am banking on my equity paying off in a few years and in the meantime I'm making more than I ever have. I had to push myself extremely hard to learn all that I needed to get to this point. Not boasting, rather hoping it will help other devs to think about making their move early rather than waiting until they get a pink slip. Time is not on your side. Please get busy studying all things AI and learn some tools like Databricks, Workato, etc. that are most in demand. I hope this helps someone. I wish I had some advice for other occupations. I think UBI must (at least should IMO) be implement to "tax" AI use to provide a living wage to all displaced workers or at least augment what they can make (while there is any work left to do) to living wage level.
