Let’s make it clear that AI isn’t displacing jobs. Employers are. They had way more people than they reasonably needed for the bulk of their shovelware, and they’ve divested their money from employees into AI infrastructure. But the bubble is beginning to pop. When it does pop—and it will—the demand for white collar workers will go up, even if only by a bit. By then, you won’t have any actually “skilled” workers to fill those jobs, which is the real impact of AI. Not a ton of people know how to do a lot because they rely too heavily on it.
I suppose one benefit to these companies is that a lot of actual “skilled” workers still can’t really retire.
Edit: I realize a lot of what I say looks like it applies to just tech jobs, but it really applies to most industries. B.S. jobs or whatever.
