I’m seeing people in the chat talk about training their replacement. You have to stand up for yourself. My job is unique and I will likely never be replaced by AI but I am still not training other people for nothing. I work hard and expect commensurate compensation. If they are going to fire you, force their hands and make them do it before they really want to. Most of the times when you call their bluff, they won’t. It’s dollars and cents. Of course it doesn’t guarantee your job in the long run but every bit of money counts, times are rough. So nickel and dime them the way they do you. You have to use your leverage when you have it. You have no leverage after you’re done training your replacement and it is too risky to wheel and deal before you start training your replacement. Smack dab in the middle of the training is when you demand a deal.
