When you called out how people in support of AI say ‘you now have time for other things’ it reminded me of part of the book player piano where the Shah of Bratpuhr is being shown an American home and told how convenient the lives of the citizens are everything done in seconds at the touch of a button. But when the Shah asks why the need for such speed he is told so they can get back to other things and when he ask what these other things are the citizens fidget get nervous and give the reply of watch tv, in the lead up to this scene we are shown how unhappy their lives are; player piano was published in 1952 we have had more than 70 years of warning and yet we keep on barreling forward.
