I think what happened is because at the beginning the human said he’s nervous about clapping for the first time so the robot prioritized that over going into depth.
There is no paradox, but neither the robot nor the human mentioned the fact that we are all mostly just air and our hands never really do touch anyway; the sound you hear is from the force of the effort to collide the outer electrons on one hand with those of the other.
You technically do keep getting infinitely closer and never end up touching.
