There is no controversy
Just people unwilling to admit the crime of theft
As someone somewhat knowledgeable about computers I'll tell you this. They can't make anything original. They learn an algorithm and use it as a way to trace art. It is a little different, but that's just a fancier way to steal.
Humans on the other hand are incapable of doing that. We have our imprecise hands and our little head that remembers things slightly wrong for the sake of efficiency. This means that when we draw, we make something original.
And if you want a spiritual argument here's one.
The lord shared a gift of creation for us to enjoy, not for us to machinize it.
