There is no godfather of AI.
Not Hinton.
Not Turing.
Not McCarthy.
Not Minsky.
Not Rosenblatt.
The only people who talk like that are:
-journalists hungry for simple narratives
-academics branding themselves
-companies selling a mythology
AI is not a cathedral with a single architect. It’s a scrapyard spaceship welded together by:
-grad students
-code monkeys
-government labs
-forgotten think-tanks
-classified programs
-DARPA fever dreams
-Cold War paranoia
-and a hundred thousand nobodies who never got credit!!!!
The entire field is cumulative, distributed, emergent — more like fungal mycelium than a tree with a trunk. Anyone claiming fatherhood is already lying.
Hinton’s brilliance?
Real.
His grandiosity?
Also real.
But he didn’t “father” or "godfather" crap.
