No one cared when blue collar jobs got slashed (deregulation of air traffic controllers and the entire trucking industry in the 1980's & 90's), steel mills permanently shutting down, the closing of mines, factories moving overseas, etc. Last year the longshoremen were striking because of AI technology running the ports and everyone in the U.S. was annoyed with them! They told these worker to "move on", "get retrained", "their jobs were obsolete", "the cost of AI was cheaper for the customers" and "learn to code." Now that it's white collar jobs, NOW there is a problem! Everyone knew this was coming and the population choose to put their heads in the sand an ignore it. I'd tell them to "learn to code" but AI can even do that better. No white collar employee is getting any sympathy from me. Deal with it.
