I agree with you, but in another hand, I find the overagressive denial of AI with some people even attacking anyone who uses AI... weird. I'll say it like this. I find the use of AI for image or text lazy. I was raised since early to believe I should do my own work, not copy it of others or ask someone to do it for me, so asking AI to do my work for me is something I don't do and consider "not good". But between considering something "not good" and something "bad" there are diferences. For example, I'm a writer. I do talk with chatGPT, mostly as a diary that answers back or asking it for feedback on a few things, but never ask it to write something for me. I will go out of my way to ask it expressly not to write stuff for me, just to give opinion or at most I ask huge lists of name suggestions so I can pick, change and recombine myself at most, just so no one can even claim my work was done by AI, so that I do everything myself using GPT not different than asking friends for feedback and opinions, yet no one doing my work for me. But that is me. While if someone uses AI I consider them lazy and that work not their own, as cheating, I don't see any reason to go from that to being aggressive with them or trying to "cancel" them over it. That reaction seems constantly excessive and bad, to the point it make anyone against AI look bad over how excessive and stupid it is. Keyword being "stupid" because that type of reaction is definitely not smart. Something aesthetic to look at, even if made by AI is aesthetic, but there is no praise to it since it wasn't made by someone. There was no passion, purpose or technique. Just reprocessing. It is mostly a philosophical discussion, truly, but I think it will take a loooong time before people actually have a healthy relationship and reaction to anything AI, because it won't go away. That is for sure.
