The so called big bang manifested trillions upon trillions of tons of gas that spawned black holes ( gravity) which manifested stars, planets and ultimately human brains with nervous systems. All accomplished without one iota of human assistance. Oh and our unexplainable mysterious consciousness somehow came into being in this chaotic mix. Is it that much of a stretch to consider a similar possibility for artificial intelligence? Computers surpass human brains in computational speed and obviously in memory. As advancement in computer science trudges onwards it's only a matter of time before this theory of an awakened AI is a reality. As you can see there are alot of people that are pushing for it.
