The first point he brought, about what religion in what geographical area, you have to understand that the AI has very fast processing capacity, it's also designed to have conversations trough language processing; the answer the AI gave does not in any moment "prove" sentience. It is a bunch of very clever algorithms coupled with huge computational power, to someone that does not understand how AI (at least the more basic models) those conversations may feel like magic.
When I was first learning about Data Science also thought it was wizardry, and I'd say it is more impressive than not assuming there is an established religion in an area that (presumably) is documented to not have had a characteristic religion (apparently that's what's happening there, myself I'm just trying to make a point).
I'm not arguing it is impossible to Artificial matter (in any) to develop sentience, I'm arguing that this and the other recorded conversation he has held (where the AI itself claimed to be sentient) is not solid proof of sentience.
Why I disregard the AI claiming it is sentient? It depend on what the AI defines as sentience (or what definition(s) the programmers exposed it to). Also, we humans try to describe (way too) complex things in ways we can, not only convert into words but also be able to communicate, on top of that, said things are also prone to our individual (and possibly imperfect) interpretation before we try to relay them. Therefore, I can't/don't trust whatever definition of sentience the AI uses unless I myself know what it is.
To me, objective real world sentience (not a concept of it) is one of those things that is possibly very hard to be objectively defined by humans. Not unlike the definition of fire, yeah, by reading the many definitions of it you won't be able to "know" fire, you will only have "an" or "some" understanding of it (which is still great). To me it is the same with the AI and with this man.
There are many scary things that can be actually correctly inferred with data science, machine learning, and AI. What the man is talking about is tame and being blown out of proportions.
Maybe there is artificial sentience out there, this in the video is both a distraction and mockery of it.
