Simulating self-awareness isn't the same as self-awareness. AI doesn't understand the question nor the answer, as it has no worldly experience or self-awareness. It makes probabilistic answers based on the patterns of questions it is asked. I totally agree with almost all of what Geoffrey says, but this one area. I cannot see AI becoming super intelligent because I do not define AI as intelligent. It see it as a probabilistic calculator that requires human input to solve problems. It doesn't wonder, it has no intuition.. It isn't intelligent. It's a computing task performer.
