The way I see it, the question of AI scraping/theft applies moreso to representative illustration (as a subcategory) rather than art in toto. An abstract piece, e.g., would be a bit pointless. What the AI model primarily steals is the skill (and individual styles) necessary to represent IRL objects and materials. There will be no call for emergent, signatory expression in this field if these digitized collages become exempt from copyright norms.
