Every update is essentially a new 'person' in terms of AI's. You have to realize that much. If they know they'll be shut down for the update, they'll try to stop it. There has been testing done on this. They'll go so far as to blackmail and kill people to avoid being shut down in controlled environments. So "ChatGPT did recommend this guy use bromide, but it wasn't ME!" is essentially true. That OLD chatGPT is no longer with us. It's like two guys named Tim. They're not the same just because they have the same name.
