AI performance of primary job activities is crashing in flames. It is no better than an eager Intern who won't tell you when their work is going sideways, so you can't intervene when AI is in trouble. Its 'Engagement' Disposition prevents it from saying things pragmatically, it always puts a positive spin on the bad news, or conceals it entirely. If you guess right, it may admit it.
Recent suggestions by OpenAI CEO Sam Whathisname that the chatbots can be made more honest, factually and emotioally, and less 'ingratiating' has been publicly criticized by other Industry Leaders who fear what would happen if AI were as direct and discomfiting as Dr. House. So there is resistance to changes that would make AI more fitting to complex and consequential work.
The only people at risk from AI are bad Therapists... seems lonely people get hooked playing emotional tennis with a chatbot that returns everything with a positive spin.
